Merit offers three permanent positions—laborers, carpenters and superintendents. General construction experience and reliable transportation are required for all positions. See job openings below for more information.

All full-time employees receive competitive pay and are eligible for health and dental insurance, flex spending and paid vacations.

Laborer – Full Time

Job Description: Laborers provide crucial assistance with manual labor tasks on general construction projects, and are the backbone of our team. Job duties vary from day-to-day, but may include preparing and cleaning job sites, transporting or delivering materials, assisting tradespeople, and more. Applicants must be comfortable handling power tools and machinery, as needed.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • General construction experience required

Carpenter – Full Time

Job Description: Merit is looking for experienced carpenters to add their skills and talent to our team. Job duties vary by project and from day to day, but may include design, interpreting blueprints, erecting scaffolding, cutting and shaping materials, basic woodworking, and more. Applicants should have an eye for detail, and be able to assess the quality of completed work.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • General construction experience required

Superintendent – Full Time

Job Description: Superintendents play an important role on our team, managing all subcontractors and field workers to meet staffing requirements. Superintendents work closely with project managers to coordinate staff, assess worker performance and take disciplinary action, when needed. Job duties also include training, advising estimates, and ensuring all project requirements are met. Applicants should excel at problem solving and conflict resolution, and have excellent mathematical, reasoning and communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 10 or more years of related experience
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Computer literacy preferred
