Building Stronger Communities

“Building Stronger Communities” is more than a tagline for us. It’s what we do every day through our projects, volunteer work and donations. We’re proud of the contributions we make to brighten the future of our communities. And we’re incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our employee-owners, who volunteer more than 2,000 hours every year.

On average, our company has donated $40,000/year for the last five years to social service agencies and nonprofit organizations. We feel blessed to be part of so many Eastern Iowa communities and make giving back a regular part of doing business.

Meals On Wheels

Merit has a strong partnership with Horizons’ Meals on Wheels program. Each week, two employees volunteer to deliver meals over their lunch hour. Our employees have volunteered more than 1,248 hours delivering “more than just a lunch” in the last six years alone.

Work of Heart

Merit Construction employees also participate in our Work of Heart volunteer program. Helping others makes people feel good and our employees know they can make a difference so getting them to donate their time and effort to their communities is not difficult. We love to give back and blow our Work of Heart goals out of the water every time!
